For me, animal welfare has always been an important concern and I would
like to use my skills to help and educate. That is why I have dedicated a longterm project and a book to this topic
.
Every year, countless animals end up in animal shelters, rescue centers or sanctuaries. Or if they have no luck also at the butcher. Many of them have seen hell before. Neglected, crammed into much too small cages, without knowing when the next time food or water will be brought over. Overstrained owners who do not know anything about the exotic species, but it looks so nice in the living room. The animals that live in human care are completely dependent on this, no matter whether it is cold outside or the vacations are tempting before the door. But some forget what duty it brings with it to acquire a living creature, too tempting is the attraction of these creatures. But the suffering which arises is difficult to bear. Many look away and some do not want to know anything about it. But there are these wonderful people who have taken on the rescue and help of these animals and give them a new life, take care of their wounds or find them a “forever home”. I visited these people and photographed their charges. I traveled through Switzerland for 2 years and met all kinds of characters. From brave sheep, to wild birds, to nimble rats. There were all kinds of things. But all of them have experienced trauma and bear their scars. Some clearly visible, others carry them invisibly. But all of them have a beauty in them and an incredible will to live on. I have won the Solothurn cultural sponsorship award of 15`000 CHF and published a book together with the renowned Edition Lammerhuber.
