Sara Affolter, born in Solothurn in 1997, was six years old when she received her first camera as a gift. It became the medium of her passion. She completed her studies as a photographer at the School of Design in Bern. After passing her final exams, she wants to start her own business and make a living from photography. Sara Affolter is working on several projects today. One of them, the long-term project "Wegwerfware", has it all: she approaches abused animals with her camera and puts them in the focus of her portrait photography. The goal is a coffee-table book with political aspirations, because Sara Affolter is committed to animal protection and wants to use half of the proceeds from the sale of the coffee-table book for this purpose. The photographer's visual language is characterized by attractive lighting and convincing image compositions. Her pictures deal conceptually with a theme, testify to her wealth of ideas and technical skill. In doing so, she conveys emotions and moods that are not always pleasing, but for that very reason provoke thought.
Sara Affolter is to be encouraged and supported on her photographic path and in her artistic work. For this purpose, she will receive a Photography Award 2022.
